The Five People You Meet In Heaven

The Five People You Meet In Heaven

Mitch Albom

I really liked this book because Eddie acted as a father figure to most of the people he met in heaven. It started with Eddie being killed as an old man in an amusement park maintainer. The first person he met was the blu man, Eddie killed him by running in front of his car and causing him to have a heart attack. The second person he met was his captain when he was in the army. The captain explained that he shot his knee to save him and then the captain searched for mines to save the rest of the squadron and was blown up. The third was his father and Eddie finally found out why his dad was so mean. The fourth person was his wife and they sorted everything out. The last person he met was a little chinese girl he accidentally killed in the war when the captain shot his knee. Each person taught him a lesson and explained why things happened. Eddie finally found out that he did save the little girl at the amuesment park, then Eddie forgave everyone that hurt him in someway or another in his life. It ended with Eddie waiting for people to visit him in heaven.

Trials of Death

Darren Shan

In book 5 Darren takes part in the “Trials of Initiation”. The trials are a series of tests that vampires used to have to do to prove themselves to the Vampire Princes. Now it is only used for people who want to become a general or if they want to show they are a good vampire, but Darren has to do the trials because Mr. Crepsley made him a vampire when he was only a child. Darren chooses to stand up for his mentor. The first of five trials are “The Aquatic Maze,” which is a maze that fills steadily with water while Darren has to get through while dragging a rock half his weight. The second Trial is “The Path of Needles,” which is a tunnel full of sharp racks which break badly and are as sharp as knives. The third Trial is “The Hall of Flames,” which is a metal room with holes that shoot out flames (I liked this part the most) Darren must remain in the room for fifteen minutes, trying not to be burned alive. He finishes three, and is rescued by Harkat during the fourth when he fights two boars (wild boars infected with vampire blood). As the interference is illegal and counts as a loss, he does not survive according to the Vampires, Darren is sent to die at the Hall of Death. Kurda persuades him to run away. They are halfway when Gavner catches up with them and tags along. They cross across an army of 37 vampaneze Kurda tells Darren to run and Gavner and Kurda fight them. Darren turns back and watches as Kurda swings his knife into Gavner killing him. It turns out that Kurda was with the vampaneze. Kurda argues that his intentions True, and that he just wanted the vampires to be together with the vampaneze. Darren then runs throughout the many tunnels and reaches the Hall of final Voyage. Kurda chases after Darren. Darren then jumps into the river and shouts “Even in death, may I be triumphant!” as the current swiftly carries him away ending the book.

Cirque Du Freak #4

Vampire Mountain

Darren Shan

Darren, along with Mr. Crepsley, leave the Cirque Du Freak and head toward the Vampire Mountain to present Darren to the Vampire Princes. The gathering at Vampire Mountain by the vampire clan is an event that occurs every 12-18 years. Before they leave, Mr. Tiny talks to Mr. Crepsley and convinces him into taking two of the Little People along to guard Darren. On the journey Darren and Mr. Crepsley find a waypoint with two broken coffins and dead vampires in them. Darren also meets head to head with a Bear infected with vampaneze blood, while being attacked Harkat and the other little person attack the bear. The fight was intense until the pack of wolves arrived ( wolves are cousins of vampires) the wolves tore the bear to pieces and then left it instead of eating it.
After a long and difficult journey, Mr. Crepsley and Darren finally arrive at Vampire Mountain. There Darren first meets Arra Sails, Mr. Crepsley's former wife, one eyed Vanez Blanewho is a fighting coach for Vampire Generals. Seba Niles was Mr Crepsley's old friend and quarter master of vampire mountain. At the mountain the vampire Princes decided that Darren needed to take a series of trials to prove him worthy of being a half vampire. If Darren were to fail he would be killed, either by dying during a trial, or being painfully executed by being dropped into a pit of stakes.

The Hideout

The Hideout

Peg Kehret

I thought that the hideout by Peg Kehret was a great book. It had good structure and a great plot. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking adventure books. In the beginning of the book it explains that Jeremy’s parents died when a man walked into the mall and shot them. Jeremy’s parents were environmentalists and were against killing animals for sport. After Jeremy’s parents death Jeremy’s uncle said he would take Jeremy in. The train ride to Jeremy's uncles house was long and boring until their was a mudslide and the rocks and dirt knocked the train off the tracks. Jeremy thought that he was fine until the car he was in flipped and caught fire. He quickly got out and helped an old man escape from under a piece of steel. Jeremy then looked back at the wreck and ran off into the woods with his backpack, not knowing were he was going and when he would turn back. Jeremy walked and walked until he found an old cabin. He walked in and found that it had been deserted for a couple of years. The next couple of days found a store and a young girl named Bonnie from the town right next to his cabin. He became very good friends with Bonnie and when they were walking through the woods they found a poached bear and reported it to the police. The police eventually found the poachers and prosecuted them. The police then took Jeremy back to his uncle and the book ends with Jeremy emailing all of his old friend and his few new friends

John Adams (Join Or Die)

JOHN ADAMS
"JOIN OR DIE"

I think that the first part of the episode was based on the Boston massacre was very realistic, it also was very gruesome of the soldiers to do that to the men throwing snowballs and clubs. I also think that John Adams is a very good lawyer, I say this because he brought justice to the men that shot even though the bystanders were the ones that were daring the soldiers to shoot. I think that if John Adams was alive today he would be one of the best lawyers. I didn't like the tarring scene it was very graphic and what i was wondering was why the man didn't just dive off the boat instead of running into the crowd. If I were that man I would have just swam to the other side and escaped. The barbarous behavior of the early Americas is didgusting.

He also says that Evra can come to. They go to Mr. Crepsley's hometown (before hebacame a vampire). They all stayed in a hotel, but Mr. Crepsley left every night, leaving Evra and Darren alone. Darrens life was disturbed by the fact that on the news he hears of victims that were found in a basement drained of all there blood. In this book Darren meets for the first time a girl named Debbie, he falls in love with her. But Murlough manages to catch Evra, and drag him down into his hiding place in the sewer. Finally Darren decides to trade life of his girlfriend Debbie for Evra's. it was only a trap in which Mr.Crepsley was waiting forMurlough. The fight is quickly over and Mr. Crepsley was the winner. Mr. Crepsley sticks his entire forearm into Murlough's stomach and pulled out his guts. They buried the Vampaneze and went back to the sewers to save Evra, but chances were that Darren would never see Debbie again. This was a Really good book and I would rete it a 7 out of 10.

The call of the wild

The call of the wild
By, Jack London

The call of the wild was a great book I really enjoyed it.

Some characters were Buck, Spitz, John Thornton, Sled dogs and many other sled owners.
All of the sleds Buck was on he either had to fight to become the leader or was the leader to start with.
The 140 pound buck was so much bigger than every other sled dog making him a natural born leader. Buck was also very affectionate and cared very much for his masters.
When John Thornton is killed by some Yeehat Indians Buck picked them off as they ran through the forest away from the raging animal they thought was a bear. Buck returns to the wild after the killing of John and becomes the “Alpha Male” of a wolf pack he met a few days after the death of Thornton. The wolf pack with the very strong leader became stronger and drove many animals away.
The Images of the ripped apart bodies of John and the Yeehats almost drove Buck mad. This Book was really good I would rate it a 9 out of 10.

Fallen Angels

Fallen Angels

Walter Dean Myers

Fallen Angels was a great book. Some characters are Richie Perry Kenny Perry, Richies Mom, Harold “Peewee” Gates, Richie’s friend. Lobel and Monaco were two soldiers Richie was friends with. Captain Stewart and Sergeant Simpson were the two best officers around. Lieutenant Carroll, Lieutenant Gearhart, Corporal Brunner and Sergeant Dongan were his commanding officers. Judy Duncan was a nurse who Richie liked on the plane ride over to Vietnam. In Vietnam Richie experienced many diseases and a few wounds. Most of the men on his team died in the first couple of weeks, but the few who made it through the roughest part of the war Rich got to know the best. Peewee and Rich always had each others backs and when it came to battle and one needed help the other would risk his life to save the others. Lieutenant Carroll is a great example of that he was shot while calling in a medical helicopter and shot a red flare to where he was signaling the helicopter and also the Vietnamese soldiers. This book had a lot of graphic violence and language so I would rate it a 7. If this is really what war is like i hope no one I know ever has to go to war.

When sam thought he was finally dead Mr. Crepsley came speeding along and took out the Wolf man who got knocked out. Darren then got up and drank Sams blood to preserve his soul. Cirque Du Freak #1

Cirque Du Freak

Darren Shan

Cirque Du Freak was a great book I really liked it. It Started off with two friends Steve and Darren and they are at school waiting for there teacher. Before class Steve had shown Darren a poster with a circus of freaks on the cover and they decided to go even though it was hard to get tickets. Three days later they were sitting in the crowd watching the show and they could not believe how amazing it was until Steve saw the performing spider. Even though they both loved spiders the problem was the man who was the trainer. Steve had seen him in a vampire book and new that he was a vampire right away. Once they left the show Darren had made up his mind that he would steal the spider.

Later that night Darren snuck out of the house and stole the spider, he was so happy. Every day he took her out and trained her with a flute. One day Darren invited Steve over to show him the spider. Steve was so scared because he new that Mr. Crepsley the vampire would come and hunt him down. Steve still wanted to see the spider anyway. Taking the spider out of the cage Darren was surprised that the spider jumped and bit Steve on the neck paralyzing him. Darren told his parents to call 911 and that he was stung by a bee. The only way to save Steve would be to ask Mr. Crepsley for a cure. Mr. Crepsley would only agree to give the cure if Darren came with him and became a half vampire. Darren agreed and Steve was spared.

Darren and Mr. Crepsley had to leave to go away from Steve or else they would be caught. So they came up with a plan Mr. Crepsley would snap Darren’s neck give him a potion and throw him out a window not killing him but slowing his pulse to right before it stops and not making him able to move.

His family made funeral arrangements and there was a wake. After everyone had left Darren felt himself being poked and prodded and it was Steve and he new that Darren was alive and a vampire. Six feet under ground after being buried alive and now he was just waiting for Mr. Crepsley to dig him up. Finally he was found and he got out of that small coffin. Darren decided to walk around because he was so stiff. While walking he stumbled upon a figure it was Steve and he was carrying a stake he told Darren that he would spend his whole life looking for Darren and that Darren would die. That was the end of book 1 and I would rate it a 10 out of 10, I recommend this to all fantasy readers.

Going Solo

Going Solo

Roald Dahl

Going solo is a great book and I really liked it. The book had a slow start then it took off, I would recommend this book to other people. In the beginning Roald was a man in Africa as a petroleum expert, and was drafted by the U.S. Army and was in charge of bringing back the Germans trying to get out of the country. Roald stopped them and brought them back to holding camps. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air force and went through six months of gruesome flight training. When finished he was sent to Afghanistan to help fly weapons over to a secret base. He got the coordinates and flew to where the base was but it wasn’t there so he crash landed. He crawled out of the plane and didn’t burn to death. Three days later some men came to retrieve the plane and skeleton of the pilot but they found the badly burnt, still breathing and bloodied body of Roald Dahl. He spent the next seven months recovering from a broken skull, broken bones, loss of sight, and many other severe injuries. Once fully recovered he flew a new plane to Greece to hold off the incoming Grecian air force. They were outnumbered, fourteen to about one thousand. No one thought they would hold them off, and they were right Roald and all of his flight team were forced to retreat to an old olive grove. They had to cover there planes in corn stalks, during the flight over Roald passed out for a short time, and he decided to talk to the field doctor. His head injuries from the year before were turning serious and he was going home.

Heat

Heat

Mike Lupica

Heat started with a boy named Ramon trying to steal an old ladies purse, he gets it and starts running through a base ball field. The next part no one expected Michael Arroyo a 12 year old boy throws a baseball and it smacks the robber in the head, but it was no bit of luck Michael has been pitching for years.
Michael’s team made it to the playoffs easily and was now trying for Williamsport. During the next few games they played the coaches thought that Michael was over the age limit and should not be in this league.
The coaches signed a petition saying that Michael should not play until he shows a birth certificate. The only problem with that is Michael father and mother died and the only family he has is his older brother Carlos, and Carlos can’t locate Michael’s birth certificate. Over the next couple of days Manny and Michael meet this girl named Ellie, but what they didn’t know is that Ellie is the daughter of the famous baseball star El Grande. El Grande is Michael’s favorite player. Both El Grande and Michael have something in common they are both from Cuba, so Ellie makes her dad find Michaels birth certificate, and in the last playoff game Michael got his birth certificate. He got it just in time when they were losing 5 to nothing. When Michael got there they scored a lot and won. The next team they would face would be in the finals, and Michael would be pitching in Yankee stadium.
