The Five People You Meet In Heaven

The Five People You Meet In Heaven

Mitch Albom

I really liked this book because Eddie acted as a father figure to most of the people he met in heaven. It started with Eddie being killed as an old man in an amusement park maintainer. The first person he met was the blu man, Eddie killed him by running in front of his car and causing him to have a heart attack. The second person he met was his captain when he was in the army. The captain explained that he shot his knee to save him and then the captain searched for mines to save the rest of the squadron and was blown up. The third was his father and Eddie finally found out why his dad was so mean. The fourth person was his wife and they sorted everything out. The last person he met was a little chinese girl he accidentally killed in the war when the captain shot his knee. Each person taught him a lesson and explained why things happened. Eddie finally found out that he did save the little girl at the amuesment park, then Eddie forgave everyone that hurt him in someway or another in his life. It ended with Eddie waiting for people to visit him in heaven.

Trials of Death

Darren Shan

In book 5 Darren takes part in the “Trials of Initiation”. The trials are a series of tests that vampires used to have to do to prove themselves to the Vampire Princes. Now it is only used for people who want to become a general or if they want to show they are a good vampire, but Darren has to do the trials because Mr. Crepsley made him a vampire when he was only a child. Darren chooses to stand up for his mentor. The first of five trials are “The Aquatic Maze,” which is a maze that fills steadily with water while Darren has to get through while dragging a rock half his weight. The second Trial is “The Path of Needles,” which is a tunnel full of sharp racks which break badly and are as sharp as knives. The third Trial is “The Hall of Flames,” which is a metal room with holes that shoot out flames (I liked this part the most) Darren must remain in the room for fifteen minutes, trying not to be burned alive. He finishes three, and is rescued by Harkat during the fourth when he fights two boars (wild boars infected with vampire blood). As the interference is illegal and counts as a loss, he does not survive according to the Vampires, Darren is sent to die at the Hall of Death. Kurda persuades him to run away. They are halfway when Gavner catches up with them and tags along. They cross across an army of 37 vampaneze Kurda tells Darren to run and Gavner and Kurda fight them. Darren turns back and watches as Kurda swings his knife into Gavner killing him. It turns out that Kurda was with the vampaneze. Kurda argues that his intentions True, and that he just wanted the vampires to be together with the vampaneze. Darren then runs throughout the many tunnels and reaches the Hall of final Voyage. Kurda chases after Darren. Darren then jumps into the river and shouts “Even in death, may I be triumphant!” as the current swiftly carries him away ending the book.

Cirque Du Freak #4

Vampire Mountain

Darren Shan

Darren, along with Mr. Crepsley, leave the Cirque Du Freak and head toward the Vampire Mountain to present Darren to the Vampire Princes. The gathering at Vampire Mountain by the vampire clan is an event that occurs every 12-18 years. Before they leave, Mr. Tiny talks to Mr. Crepsley and convinces him into taking two of the Little People along to guard Darren. On the journey Darren and Mr. Crepsley find a waypoint with two broken coffins and dead vampires in them. Darren also meets head to head with a Bear infected with vampaneze blood, while being attacked Harkat and the other little person attack the bear. The fight was intense until the pack of wolves arrived ( wolves are cousins of vampires) the wolves tore the bear to pieces and then left it instead of eating it.
After a long and difficult journey, Mr. Crepsley and Darren finally arrive at Vampire Mountain. There Darren first meets Arra Sails, Mr. Crepsley's former wife, one eyed Vanez Blanewho is a fighting coach for Vampire Generals. Seba Niles was Mr Crepsley's old friend and quarter master of vampire mountain. At the mountain the vampire Princes decided that Darren needed to take a series of trials to prove him worthy of being a half vampire. If Darren were to fail he would be killed, either by dying during a trial, or being painfully executed by being dropped into a pit of stakes.

The Hideout

The Hideout

Peg Kehret

I thought that the hideout by Peg Kehret was a great book. It had good structure and a great plot. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking adventure books. In the beginning of the book it explains that Jeremy’s parents died when a man walked into the mall and shot them. Jeremy’s parents were environmentalists and were against killing animals for sport. After Jeremy’s parents death Jeremy’s uncle said he would take Jeremy in. The train ride to Jeremy's uncles house was long and boring until their was a mudslide and the rocks and dirt knocked the train off the tracks. Jeremy thought that he was fine until the car he was in flipped and caught fire. He quickly got out and helped an old man escape from under a piece of steel. Jeremy then looked back at the wreck and ran off into the woods with his backpack, not knowing were he was going and when he would turn back. Jeremy walked and walked until he found an old cabin. He walked in and found that it had been deserted for a couple of years. The next couple of days found a store and a young girl named Bonnie from the town right next to his cabin. He became very good friends with Bonnie and when they were walking through the woods they found a poached bear and reported it to the police. The police eventually found the poachers and prosecuted them. The police then took Jeremy back to his uncle and the book ends with Jeremy emailing all of his old friend and his few new friends

John Adams (Join Or Die)

JOHN ADAMS
"JOIN OR DIE"

I think that the first part of the episode was based on the Boston massacre was very realistic, it also was very gruesome of the soldiers to do that to the men throwing snowballs and clubs. I also think that John Adams is a very good lawyer, I say this because he brought justice to the men that shot even though the bystanders were the ones that were daring the soldiers to shoot. I think that if John Adams was alive today he would be one of the best lawyers. I didn't like the tarring scene it was very graphic and what i was wondering was why the man didn't just dive off the boat instead of running into the crowd. If I were that man I would have just swam to the other side and escaped. The barbarous behavior of the early Americas is didgusting.

Cirque Du Freak #3

Cirque Du Freak #3
Darren Shan
Some characters in this book are Darren, Mr. Crepsley, Murlough, Debbie, Evra and Debbies parents. Mr. Crepsley mysteriously says that they must move somewhere else. He also says that Evra can come to. They go to Mr. Crepsley's hometown (before hebacame a vampire). They all stayed in a hotel, but Mr. Crepsley left every night, leaving Evra and Darren alone. Darrens life was disturbed by the fact that on the news he hears of victims that were found in a basement drained of all there blood. He suspects Mr. Crepsley for the murders and tries to face him, but discovers that it was actually a work of a mad vampaneze named Murlough.
In this book Darren meets for the first time a girl named Debbie, he falls in love with her. But Murlough manages to catch Evra, and drag him down into his hiding place in the sewer. Finally Darren decides to trade life of his girlfriend Debbie for Evra's. it was only a trap in which Mr.Crepsley was waiting forMurlough. The fight is quickly over and Mr. Crepsley was the winner. Mr. Crepsley sticks his entire forearm into Murlough's stomach and pulled out his guts. They buried the Vampaneze and went back to the sewers to save Evra, but chances were that Darren would never see Debbie again. This was a Really good book and I would rete it a 7 out of 10.

The call of the wild

The call of the wild
By, Jack London

The call of the wild was a great book I really enjoyed it.

Some characters were Buck, Spitz, John Thornton, Sled dogs and many other sled owners.
All of the sleds Buck was on he either had to fight to become the leader or was the leader to start with.
The 140 pound buck was so much bigger than every other sled dog making him a natural born leader. Buck was also very affectionate and cared very much for his masters.
When John Thornton is killed by some Yeehat Indians Buck picked them off as they ran through the forest away from the raging animal they thought was a bear. Buck returns to the wild after the killing of John and becomes the “Alpha Male” of a wolf pack he met a few days after the death of Thornton. The wolf pack with the very strong leader became stronger and drove many animals away.
The Images of the ripped apart bodies of John and the Yeehats almost drove Buck mad. This Book was really good I would rate it a 9 out of 10.
